Will-o-Wisp {Process Post}

Good evening and Happy Halloween! I am writing this update in the mist of last minute making my Halloween costume for my company's party. *sprays fake blood on everything* I am doing to be some sort of demonic chef this year >:D

But let's talk about Will-o-Wisp, October's Patreon theme. When I was drawing this design, I wasn't sure if I want to do a "Ghost" theme or a "Will-o-Wisp" theme. The idea is either she is the will-o-wisp or she is being guided by one. My initial sketches shows that; she was sorta floating and doing a spooky ghost pose.

When brainstorming longer, I thought that ... isn't a will-o-wisp sorta a lost soul as well. One can guide as a wisp while also looking for an eternal resting place. And thus this concept is born. Her design reflects a little bit both aspects. Her outfit is more ghostly and I blend her hair from a ghostly color into a bright blue flame. As a ghost, she carries her skull to lay to rest. As a wisp, she also carries the lantern. 

I also explore her outfit a bit! My first couple of ideas have a more cleaner outfit. In the end, I settle for a less modern, ragged shirt. It shows that she is wandering for a long time and also, it makes you wonder what time she came from. 

This month's design will NOT include the PSD file because the file was extremely messy this time haha. Despite the simplicity of her drawing I experimented too much on techniques so there really isn't a logic to learn from this time. ; -; '/  Instead I hope that it will be ok to include really initial sketches with this post!
