Strawberry (May Theme) {Process Post}
Happy Sunday! I am currently super busy so I will keep this a shorter post today.
I was shopping in a mall one day and I saw a beautiful artistic display of fabric strawberries. I thought it will be a fun project to re-envision the fruit as 3D hanging objects instead of edible snacks. Using details such as seam limes and pattern fills inside the strawberries, I made sure to show that the strawberries are decorations.
I want to show that the character is cute girly girl who loves to accessorize with strawberries in the sticker sheet design. I can imagine her holding a "deco phone" with a strawberry frame similar to the sticker sheet. By adding washi tape accents, it also gives the sticker sheet design a more stationary feel.
There are so many strawberries in this design. I basically made 2-3 strawberries and copied and pasted it many times. But to create variance, I still made the pattern fills in each strawberry different. I believe in a lot of handmade elements in my work so even when I copy and paste elements, I like to retrace it again to make slight variations in each strawberry.
By the way, a small detail you may not notice is...the character is not reflected in the mirror! Is she a vampire? Not really. But I tried the mirrored strawberry look because I felt like the postcard design feels very barren and I wanted to add some complexity to it. But I like to keep the head area clear so I purposely deleted her mirrored reflection from the picture. It helps her feel more layered and she is farther from the strawberries.
And there is my little strawberry writeup! I am still in the process of migrating shop content to my new store so thank you so much for your patience! T UT I am asking my friends to help because its over 200 posts to migrate and it is super time consuming!
Melan - off!
