Rosemary {Process Post}
Two uploads tonight. This was a simple little 1.5 hr doodle that I did quickly to get the idea out of my mind.
A lot of people always ask me about what inspires my ideas and I want to talk about it a little tonight. I posted a process post many months ago but maybe I can write a new one here.
Usually my thought process is to think of a theme. This theme: "I want to draw a bird to practice on drawing birds more." Another example is a story: "I dream of a watery world split between the abyss and the light."
My themes are always in two parts. I like to draw one focus theme (this time is bird) and then an accompany theme (plant, I was interested in the rosemary plant because I saw some in a supermarket yesterday). I like two themes in one picture because it makes it a bit more complex but still kinda easy ^ u^. Another recent theme is: "time + witch"
Then I look at references of birds. A lot of my images are very inaccurate in realism but I prefer to look at real images of birds and reinterpret it to fit my style knowing that it might not be 100% real.
Third is mood. I save a lot of pictures from artists that inspire me a lot and I strive to be good at. I like to look at art references to feel emotion when I draw. My mood for this artwork is country style so I have a artwork of a girl with a cloak as inspiration. I just noticed that maybe my girl eyes are yellow because the background of the inspiration is yellow!
Forth, I usually have a photograph of a pose I like. I didn't have a pose this time since I drew this angle so many times it was really comfortable to do.
Ah so there you have it! I hope you like reading this little thought process I do when I draw even for doodles like these.
