Needle and Thread {Process Post}

Creating the character:
She was created back while I was thinking about a theme based on embroidery. The design has an embroidery hoop with accents of embroidered gold flowers around the character. When working on her accents, I realized one big thing: I'm really bad at drawing the stitching details that makes it like sewing. So I shelved the idea and mull over it. 

Revising her design
I love the character and the idea of an embroidered jacket. I wonder if she is a girl that is not reliant on embroidery and instead on the concept of sewing. Her new design have her embroidered chrysanthemum jacket that I love but now I also emphasized her ribbons and threads as well. I am also able to bring a ton of red into her character making her bold and rich in color.

Final Design
February is the month of Chinese New Year so I want to bring some aspects of the celebration into the final design but still try to push it away from making it super obvious. She wears a sleeveless and backless dress accented by a Chinese clover knot. You also see a lot of gold chrysanthemums during Chinese New Year. I thought it was interesting when I researched it, that chrysanthemums symbolizes longevity and a thread is super long haha.

My final thought is, Needle and Thread was a character that I attempted a few times and gave up on it, but I still push on it to keep trying and making her design work because I love her character a lot! ^^ Thank you so much for reading today!
