Midnight Witch {Process Post}

A mysterious witch that appears at the stroke of midnight. If you meet her at the moment, you can ask her to repeat the previous day. *-*

This was a sketch I had in my file for a couple of months and I am glad that it's finally done! The drawing itself took me about 12 hours to do over 3 days. It was a super struggle >_<

It's also really big at 11 x 17 poster size so it was super laggy when I drew it haha!

I called her the midnight witch as an initial concept while I was sketching her and as I go, her design influenced a bit of her backstory. The idea came from the witching hour, a special  time at midnight when the world is asleep and seems to slow down. YEP its from Roald Dahl's story, The BFG where I first heard of the concept and its a line that has been in my head since then.

Her details in the drawing influenced the concept. She is standing on a clock that said 12 o clock at midnight. Her hat also has a clock but its at a wrong time because time is irrelative to her (the dials will spin randomly with a mind of its own) Her power is in her staff, the hourglass sand takes 24 hours to completely fall. Finally, the details on her skirt is similar to the hands of a clock.

This drawing was super difficult to draw and changed so much from the original sketch! I has to make a new reference image for her while I was drawing the image because I was getting super confused about how her outfit works in my head. >_<
