I was sick T_T + Sakura Con writeup
Good day! I am back from SakuraCon and I got sick, but lets talk about the amazing convention!!
Part 1: The Con
First thing is, EVERYONE is so nice in Seattle and the convention is one of the most professionally ran ones that I ever experienced.
Our location was in a location where we weren't able to get a signal at all for our credit card reader and in the first day we were not able to do some sales due to that. We managed to get an E-Sim to work near the end of the first day and we are smooth going though. Thank you to everyone who are so patient and have to work with some strange things I did to get the credit card reader working (including walking to me in the food court to get a better signal...heh)
SakuraCon is definitely a convention I will love to go again just to see all the amazing artists. The lineup is actually insane, here is a quick picture of just 1/3 of my haul, a mixture of trades and purchases ;w ; I also used some of the stickers and gave some away as gifts already haha. Lemme know if you want me to look up any of the artists here! (late night snap below)
Part II: Meeting you all
I'm so happy that a lot of you came up to say that you are from my Patreon!! I did bring some of my Patreon bonus stickers this time and passed them out if you mentioned that you are my Patreon (please don't feel shy to ask for them!)
Someone bought some postcards from my pin club and ask me to sign it, I'm super flattered and embarrassed ahhhh /// I'm sure I made the weirdest faces. I'm not really good at expressing myself haha.
Then a few talked to me about Arknights and that made my day! Also Mr S who gave me the DoughZone gift card, WE ATE!!!! It was delicious!!
I don't go to that much conventions personally anymore so I really value the interactions when I do and I really appreciate meeting you all. (Probably going to SMASH in Australia though!!)
PART III: The eating and I got sick
So Seattle's food is amazing and I ate beyond my limit every day. ; w; From AYCE KBBQ to Hot Pot to desserts, the food is so SO good. It's to the point that we ate dinner, got too full but still have to get dessert to go! One of the highlights of the trip is Nana's Tea Room. I heard many stories about how tasty it is have to go to get their matcha everything. My world is now changed by the magic of CORNFLAKES + MATCHA!!! It's a beautiful combination.
But eating so much has its problems. On the last day of the trip, I woke up with stomach pain, nausea and a headache. Thinking its temporary, I trooped through the day and acted as if nothing is wrong.
However, on the plane, I got struck by a feeling of almost nausea like I will burp and dry heave but nothing will come out. Combined with my headache, ever minute on the air felt like forever. I carefully got up from the seat and talked to the flight attendant that I felt like I will hurl any second. She quickly escorted me to a clean bathroom and gave me ginger ale, a vomit bag and some water. I proceeded to stand there the whole flight sorta dry heaving but managed to keep myself from puking. With the airplane stable and not shaking as much, it wasn't the worst but that was definitely a long trip. I also took a Tylenol of some sort and it helped a lot. I got home and collapsed onto my bed and hope to sleep it away.
And then for the next 7 days, I was not able to eat a lot of food. Every time I put food in my mouth, I get nausea and every time I eat like a small portion of food I get heartburn. My body also became really shaky and sweaty. I spent most of my time lying down in bed trying to do work at my regular job because that's all the energy I could work up. I also suffered from heart palpitations and panic attacks at night. On Friday, after some googling, my results seems to be some sort of stomach inflammation or bug and the best course of treatment was to eat simple foods until it gets better. So I spent the next three days eating small healthy meals and just trying to rest and recover.
I finally saw a doctor on Tuesday who took a check up and said that I overworked my stomach from all the eating. A combination of anxiety, stress, bad overeating eating, not drinking enough water makes it really easy to trigger this for me. So I have to take care of myself better. She also said that it looks like I am healing well from my healthy simple meals and I try to eat normally now but avoid spicy (NOOOO), greasy or fried foods for a long period of time.
So I will try to take better care of myself in the future. Right now I feel better enough to write about my trip and also start to work on art again~! I'm basically back to 90% of my energy so that is a relief and also it is an eye opener on how important health and mental health is.
But that is all for today and thank you so much for eating my long writeup!
