Happy Lunar New Year! (2021) {Process Post}

Melan and Taro wishes you a happy Lunar New Year or Happy Chinese New Year! 

As a Asian American, my family will celebrate the day every year with a huge dinner (sometimes two days in a row!) Everyone will gather together and it's a good time and I get some red envelopes. Because of corona, I pass on the celebration so it's a bit sad. But I did pay my family a visit for a short time to catch up.   Hope that everyone will have a safe and happy year! ^ o^ /

Attached is an alt version where I try to spell it out in Chinese before I gave up since I never had any practice.

About drawing the picture part: It was a straightforward illustration but I never draw much detailed and savory foods. It's pretty hard to cell-shade food where things are in interesting textures and colors. I have to pay respect to food artists. They are incredible!! After trying a few different things, I ended up with a rather ok state with the dishes where it's looks tasty enough but simplified for my style. (that sweet and sour fish took so long since there really isn't any references on how to color it)

To rest my back, I didn't intend for this to be a detailed drawing but in order to present food, it ended up detailed. I drew myself into a corner lol.
