Deep Sea - Practicing Lighting {Process Post}
I did a drawing of my deep sea fishing OC while practicing one of my weakness in drawing which is lighting and shadows. I don't think I will ever be one of the artists who does really cool shadow/contrast in their work but just getting a foundation in how to hit your shading in hair and clothes really help your work feel more accurate even when it's not ^^
This drawing was originally going to be a larger piece too but it took so hard to draw that I just cropped it. Total time was about 12 hours! >_< I painstakingly redo many parts of it over again to get better lighting and texture. In the end, I am not fully satisfied but I think I managed to get the effect across.
For this illustration, I wanted to attached something different this time, which is my rough non-cleaned up files. They are super messy and usually I clean them up for Patreons so you can actually see what's going on, but this time, I want to show what my experimental file looks like. (basically many many layers and grouping, lots of drawing over drawing haha!) But it kinda goes to show that sometimes, really simple flat color drawing may not be super simple
