Celeste Telescope {Process Post}

Been playing a lot of animal crossing and I LOVE Celeste so much that I had to draw a gijinka of her!! I love her love for the stars and her cute sparkling eyes and I tried to capture it in this piece. 

When I initially drew her, the design was pretty simple so I thought about translating some details of her design and editing my original lineart..So I gave her braids to kinda emphasize the owl hairs more and made the bottom.of her dress ruffly.

 I tried to translate a few elements of her design directly but it didn't work so I took some artistic liberties. I tried to make her skirt ruffles black and the squares on her argyle knit sweater white but it wasn't working out. her white dots are the hardest to translate. 

I tried many combinations but the contrast is being too strong and I ended up toning it down a lot! So it's not super close but I tried to get her character as close as I can.
