Camera {Process Post}

Hello, today I will take about the theme of Camera. Originally this idea was named "Memento Mori" and was a bit more gloomy. The character was a girl who takes pictures of really depressing objects such as dried flowers, skulls, and the theme was supposed to be pure black and white with some hits of color. >w<

While sketching the initial postcard design, my mind went: "I really don't want to do such a depressing theme as the idea of camera can also be used to capture the stillness of life not death!"

So I made minor adjustments to my illustration and all some more colors to it. My sad gloomy character also continues to take pictures of the daily life to preserve forever but I want to add people and flowers instead of skulls. (I get really into drawing morbid things somethings)

It also feels more interesting to add color as the theme was too black in white. A character who only dress in black and white, her expression solemn, always looking at the world through her lens, but the images she takes is one full of color.

Moody words aside (Im a very happy person, really haha) I was really looking forward to drawing a camera theme. I love the techy look of cameras, camera gear, and all the pictures I see online of people posting camera gear. I took great care in rendering camera parts and tools.

Drawing cameras is pretty difficult since they have a lot of parts. What I did was I have my camera at home and took a bunch of pictures of it at different angles. Then, I simply traced the angle of camera I wanted and fill in the details with other camera designs I found online. >:D

The character design is simple and straightforward. I wanted to draw a monochrome color scheme with accents of camera film. I did a suspender dress because suspender straps looks like camera film haha. I gave her sporty shoes for because I think as a character, she must wear comfortable shoes if she walks around to take pictures.

Thank you so much for reading my little blurb today, and I hope you look forward to this theme. I am particularly proud of this idea and I also really love how the holographic stickers turn out!
