Calico v2 {Process Post}

Final version of my Calico cat girl! She looks more tomboy than version 2. ^^ In the end, there is a still a lot of mistakes but I am finally satisfied with her design! I think this is a good picture to talk about design choices when I draw a character and how a character will evolve as I draw.

In V1, she is a calico cat girl but her hair feels like a lion's mane. I want her to feel friendly like a cat so her golden eye color felt too intense. Finally her pants felt like a incorrectly drawn shirt.

So in V2, I updated her hair to feel more gentle like a cat. But the outfit has some color issues and choice questions. For one, there are a lot of highlights but she looks like she doesn't have a light source on her. The brightness distracts the drawing and created too many parts to look at. Second is that her outfit has no sense. Is she trying to be cute or cool? The character felt too patchy.

In V3, I re-lined most of the drawing and colored her again. This time, I chose a more controlled color scheme of the calico colors, orange black and white. With the matching colors. she looks like she is wearing a more coordinated outfit. Also I chose for her to wear pants to complete the sporty look. And I made her expression looks softer and warmer.

Though I still want to change a lot of of her design. For example I noticed a lot of errors with her body, but I pose her like that so it looks more energic. In the future I hope to be able to draw cool poses in a more accurate way.
