Birdcage

Last one of the two bird series! I really needed a break from drawing flowers after this one. I literally redrew it multiple times (wip gif is coming soon)

This picture began with the thought of them flying free from a birdcage. Instead of birds, I gave the girls hypothetical wings (they don't really have wings) I really wanted to practice more feelings of movement so there is a lot of flowing and rippling of the cloth and hair. 

A lot of the difficulties comes from trying to add a lot of detail but still keep the main focus of the two characters really simple. I initially thought about adding even more detail to the dress but I felt there is enough small elements in the picture using flowers. 

The flowers are loosely referenced from white peony and white krinkled peonies.
