Amiya Arknights Drawing {Process Post}
Hello and happy Sunday. This might be a long ramble post; it's a post about thoughts on my art. ' w'
A few nights ago, I was reorganizing my Arknights plushie collection and I told myself, "Man, Melan you got a problem when you got an army of Operators and there is more coming" I love them all though haha.
But there is a reason why Arknights makes up about 50% of my merch collection. A couple of years back before I went into the gacha game sink hole, I felt a meandering in my art style; I felt like I am drawing the same cute characters and while I love casual characters, I mostly draw girls in hoodies or a skirt. (if you go all the back back before Patreon on my social media, you can probably see what I mean).
So Arknights released and it feels like something exploded in me; I discover a world of fashion casual clothing. I live under a rock so fashion is not something I am comfortable with. It sparked a passion for drawing cute and cool like no other, and it also looks like Arknights inspired a whole generation of games and artists with their techwear style and bleak atmosphere.
Lately, I am feeling a hole in my heart with drawing. I love to draw and create but because of a lot more social media presence and a way bigger store, I haven't had the time. My schedule is basically, 2 weeks straight working on Patreon art while the other two weeks are working on store stuff, behind the scene stuff and real life things. I like to draw when I'm comfy and not busy so I'm still figuring out how to balance both / w/.
So I watched the first episode of Arknights yesterday and while it is not a landmark series, I really feel something inside of me. The Arknights game inspired me with their characters; the anime inspired me with their world. I am not sure if the anime will be as strong later, but Amiya's sincerity and kindness really came across in the series. I felt compelled to sketch her right afterwards.
After drawing a lot of Genshin, it feels nice to draw Arknights; I'm not sure why but everytime I draw them, I feel a strong urge to improve and get better, to not get stagnate. The sketch of Amiya is not a strong one, but I really enjoyed it and I hope to draw more Arknights in the future again. ; w;/ I love the world so much~
I will be working on packaging October rewards the next few days so I will be a tad silent. ^ o^ Melan out and have a good Halloween!
