Alice & the White Rabbit {Process Post}
Tonight I want to talk about Alice & the White Rabbit, June's Patreon theme.
Alice & the White Rabbit is the very first original 11x17 poster I ever printed for retail in 2018 so they have a special place in my heart. I think most anime artists did a sort of Alice theme at one point and here is mines. It follows the original story of Alice in Wonderland pretty similarly so you probably knows the story already. Alice fell into Wonderland chasing the White Rabbit and met the Queen of Hearts.
I formatted the stickers very similarly to the story. The center sticker of Alice is her reading the story. In her dreams, she met a White Rabbit who will be later for a tea party. She drinks a mysterious potion to become bigger, and then smaller, met the Cheshire cat and had a Tea Party.
It accumulated into the postcard design where Alice is walking to the path out of the mushroom forest to meet the Queen and finally find her way home.
The original Alice was a very haughty character to me, but I always imagine my Alice to be more of a whimsical character. I think if I were isekaied into a imaginary world, I will probably spend most of it being rather curious.
For my Alice, because the world can be dangerous, she learned how to weld a sword in the original poster design. In the Patreon theme, I removed it because the idea is already so chaotic. (sorta the same reason why there isn't a larger drawing of Cheshire cat and other characters, no space for more characters >.<). I really wanted to focus on the White Rabbit and Alice who chases after him.
White Rabbit in my story is a humanized version of the rabbit because why not. I imagine him to be an important character who works for the Queen (hence his outfit having the accents of red). However, his expression is rather nervous and zoned out for he is always late due to distractions. In my story, after Alice and White Rabbit finished the tea party, he guides Alice home. Because my story is simple and happy, I would imagine the Queen of Hearts is a lot nicer than the one in the book and will allow Alice to go back to her place.
With that is the story of Alice & the White Rabbit. A simple story of whimy and adventure and my daydreams as I draw this month's reward! I hope that you will enjoy receiving June's theme rewards.
